Obi Bonsaiboom in GINVI stijl
Specially for our Japan Day, we created one of the most special works ever at Ginvi:
an impressive artwork measuring 163 cm high and 93 cm wide, completely hand-inlaid with gold leaf.
Layer by layer, this work was constructed with clear epoxy and hand-drawn lines in warm pearlescent tones. Within the work grows an abstract bonsai tree, composed of layers and depths that together create a meditative balance.
The bonsai's leaves are made of something exceptional... genuine Japanese obi cloth.
An obi is the wide, richly decorated sash worn by a geisha around her kimono, a symbol of elegance, craftsmanship, and tradition. Each oval shape in the artwork contains a fragment of this authentic cloth, carefully cast in epoxy and enriched with gold and silver lines that seem to float between the layers.
The entire piece was finished with a custom-made black wooden frame, giving the work depth and strength. In our view, a perfect harmony between Japanese tradition and modern GINVI art.
This unique masterpiece sold out immediately during Japan Day, and rightly so! What a masterpiece!
